raw golden honey
Raw golden honey - local, unheated, natural.

Honey is one of nature’s purest whole foods – and because of its extraordinary nutritional and health-giving properties, is considered to be a functional food.

Raw honey nutrition is impressive, containing 22 amino acids, 27 minerals and 5,000 enzymes.

Minerals include iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and selenium. Vitamins found in honey include vitamin B6, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid and niacin. Apart from that, the nutraceuticals in honey help to combat the damaging effect of free radical activity.

One tablespoon of honey contains 64 calories, yet it has a healthy glycemic load around 10 for one tablespoon, which is a little less than a banana. Raw honey does not cause a sugar spike and elevated insulin release like white sugar.

However, to benefit from all these wonderful properties, the honey you eat must be raw. Commercial honeys are ultra filtered –  a high-tech procedure where honey is heated at high temperatures, sometimes watered down and then forced at high pressure through extremely small filters to remove pollen.

It’s truly local!

Raw Golden Honey is a truly local, unprocessed and unfiltered honey sourced from over 100 hives located in between Simonstown, Constantia, Newlands and all the way to Caledon whilst employing sustainable methods of beekeeping to promote & maintain natural harmony in the environment.

Because Raw Golden Honey follows the natural rhythm of bees and honey production, their range is only seasonally available which means not all products are available at all times of the year.

Raw Golden Honey offer the following varieties of honey:  Blue Gum, Fynbos, Macademia, Wild Flower and Forest Honey.
